Heart of America HFMA Programs
Continuing Professional Education

The Heart of America HFMA educational programs may qualify for continuing professional education (CPE) for your CPA certification. The Chapter does not maintain the information required by the State Boards of Accountancy’s for CPE; however, you as an individual may maintain the necessary supporting data.

We suggest that you contact your respective State’s Board of Accountancy to obtain the entire guidelines. Basic information from Missouri and Kansas on the necessary requirements for you to maintain include the following:

  • An outline or agenda of the program indicating the program subject matter, instructor(s), and dates and length of the program.
  • A computation of the number of CPE hours. The program must be at least 1 hour. Both the Missouri and Kansas Boards consider 50 minutes to equal one hour exclusive of any breaks.
  • The instructor must be qualified which means that they have the background, training, education or experience to lead the discussion on the particular subject. With the HFMA programs, this requirement is considered in selecting the speaker(s).
  • A record of registration or attendance is maintained. Therefore, if you were to keep a copy of your program announcement, this would be sufficient as opposed to needing a certificate of attendance.
  • Again, for more details, please contact your State’s Board of Accountancy. For Missouri contact Pam Craig at pcraig@mail.state.mo.us or 573-751-0017. For Kansas call 785-296-2162.
