Student Internship program

HFMA established a student internship program in the Washington D.C., office in January 1992. The program fulfills HFMA's goal of encouraging high quality individuals to enter the field of healthcare finance. The program offers positions in the Washington D.C. office where students are exposed to policymaking activities at the federal level, and regulatory functions that affect healthcare finance. Internships last either one or two college semesters and include a limited stipend to help with expenses.

Two internships are available:
The first is for a graduate level candidate in health policy who will work on independent research on healthcare financial issues. The intern will assume some duties of the professional staff and, under supervision, attend and assist in the policy development and advocacy activities of the Association.

The second internship is for an undergraduate accounting major interested in healthcare financial and accounting issues. The intern will be assigned a supervised staff role for the principle and Practice Board, and will also be involved in other accounting and financial reporting issues.
